Americas team the Dallas Cowboys may have lost last week in the last 12 minutes to the New York Giants, but their Data Scientists were running for touchdowns all across the U.S.

According to Bill Priakos, COO of the Dallas Cowboys Merchandising Division, they needed more visibility into their data so they could run more profitably. They stacked their front line with Microsoft and a number of other sales, logistics and ecommerce applications.

The Cowboys expected with this front line the new architecture would provide the analytics and reporting to drive revenue into the end zone. However, they needed a backfield with real-time reporting and a dashboard capable to deliver the results.

The Cowboy management selected Tableau to deliver the results and now can monitor their complete merchandising activities from manufacturer to end customer.  Industry estimates indicate that the Cowboys generate 20% of all NFL merchandise sales, meaning that they most likely sold more Dallas Cowboy jerseys in New York.
